ONC believes in the Bible's power! It is inspired by God, it is authoritive, and the infallable Word of God. The Bible is without error, provides guidance, instruction, and comfort for Christians. The Bible transforms lives and guides individuals in their relationship with God. The Bible is God's love letter to humanity. The Word of God is JESUS and HE is LIFE!
Proverbs 27:17: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
God teaches His people through the Holy Spirit and He protects His Word. God's desire is to bridge the language gap and present the Gospel in a way easily understood. Reading the Bible should not be a struggle, but instead a time of growth and meditation.
Different Bible translations vary in their approach to accuracy, readability, and target audience. Some emphasize a word-for-word translation, aiming for precision, while others prioritize readability and conveying the meaning of the original text.
1. Word-for Word: Prioritizes translating the original languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) as closely as possible to the English translation. Pros: Can be helpful for detailed study and comparing versions. Cons: May be less readable and can sometimes sound awkward.
2. Thought-for-Thought: Aims to convey the meaning and intent of the original text while using natural, contemporary English. Pros: Easier to read and understand for many modern readers. Cons: May not be as precise in capturing every nuance of the original language.
3. Paraphrases: Rewords the Bible in a way that is easy to understand and relate to in modern language. Pros: Great for devotional reading and understanding general message. Cons: May not be as accurate in translating the original wording.
